Another Cup

I forgot what I was doing. I knew I was waiting for tea, however, I couldn’t remember what stage I was on. As I turned to check on my progress I saw that the kettle was unplugged and assumed that I’d forgotten to plug it in again. However, the kettle was warm to the touch. Realizing that I’d already boiled the water I opened the lid of my tea pot to see that my tea was already steeping.

I don’t know where my head was at. No doubt I was pondering what I’d just read in Scripture or thinking something through. I often operate on auto-pilot when my head is in the clouds.

I said to Andrew, “It looks like I’m just waiting for it to get a little stronger.” That’s when I heard it. It’s funny how God speaks. It’s strange when He uses your own mouth to get a message across, but at the same time It’s amazing. Of course, I had to immediately write this one down. It’s like those funny moments with Andrew that I just have to share. They’re so special.

As for our strength, we’re made strong by the good words of faith and good teaching that we’ve been following. (1 Timothy 4:6) God hasn’t forgotten about us. He’s still speaking, He’s still steeping, and He’s still inviting us to come sit a while with Him so that He may refill our cups.

We may feel as if were in hot water, but we’re not in so deep that God’s deeper love can’t reach us and bring us peace. We just have to sit a little closer to Him. (James 4:8) We do this by reading and meditating on Scripture, praying and seeking His presence continually.

Hearing God’s word is just as important. If you don’t have a great online church I would highly recommend New Hope Church. God lead me to this church about a year ago now. Their senior Pastor is British, however, New Hope is located in Georgia in the United States. Andrew and I really love Pastor Rhys. He’s very down to earth, has a good sense of humor, but he also doesn’t mess around. He speaks the truth. All of New Hope’s sermon series can be found under the video tab. Follow the live stream on Sunday or choose a series that peaks your interest. The Moses series below was very good!

Where our hearts (or minds) are set matters. It makes a huge difference. (Collosians 3:2)
