Weathered Patterns

Overcast

“The rain is hard to take” She observed, “…when you’ve been worshipping the sun.”

“Yes, but tears are better than laughter, my child, for they promise a better sum.

“Then let me rejoice in pouring rain with my arms raised high in praise. For I know You bless the broken ground once it’s softened with heaven’s rain.”

“You send rain to the plowed fields; you fill the rows with water. You soften the ground with rain, and then you bless it with crops.”

Psalm 65:10

The Gate

The weather shifts too quickly

I can’t wrap my head around the change

It’s here in the struggle that I long for Your face.

Take my discouraged thoughts and dark clouds

I just want Your warm embrace

Drench me when I’m dry

Take me in by the Gate.

“Jesus told this simple story, but they had no idea what He was talking about. So He tried again. “I’ll be explicit, then. I am the Gate for the sheep. All those others are up to no good—sheep stealers, every one of them. But the sheep didn’t listen to them. I am the Gate. Anyone who goes through me will be cared for—will freely go in and out, and find pasture. A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.”

–John 10:9-10 (MSG)

“Christ is the Door. And what greater security has the church of God than that the Lord Jesus is between it and all its enemies? He is a door open for passage and communication. Here are plain directions how to come into the fold; we must come in by Jesus Christ as the Door. By faith in him as the great Mediator between God and man. Also, we have precious promises to those that observe this direction. Christ has all that care of his church, and every believer, which a good shepherd has of his flock; and he expects the church, and every believer, to wait on him, and to keep in his pasture.”

The Gnome Knows…

Why this photo? It made me laugh. I was going to go with something moody and grey, but this one added that perfect balance that said, “Sometimes it’s grey, but it’s gonna be okay. Nothin’ and nobody gonna get in the way.” You didn’t know that gnomes were so poetic did you? I hope that you could stop smiling at him long enough to read my post. He’s a bit of a show stopper.

    1. Lol… Thanks for the laugh. It’s so true about the rain, but I also look at metaphorically as well. When I’ve been feeling good, and it quickly turns to feeling crummy, just as the clouds can quickly crowd out a gloriously sunny day, it’s hard to take. I prefer the sun. Who would choose the grey? Okay now I’m just blabbing… but I still believe that there is beauty in the greys even if they’re hard to take.
