My Box

Am I vanilla or is the world a bit mad?

Am I mad?

I might be a bit out of my box. 

Where’s my box!? 

Hides.

What did she just say? 

I don’t know what that even means!

Where am I? 

I think I just teleported to a different reality

Where’s my box?

Backs away slowly.

Those words aren’t computing

Nope 

I don’t have a clue

What should I say? 

Don’t say anything 

Pretend it never happened.

Ah, my box. 

Hey, who’s shaking my box?  

I don’t think I’m ready for this!!! 

I’m feeling too vanilla!!!

Maybe isolation is good. 

No, seriously. Maybe I was wrong about spreading my wings.

There must be a Bible verse to go with this…

That’s probably when I fell off the sofa and produced these two photos. No worries, the box cushoned my fall!

Now for that verse…

“The Lord our God said to us in Horeb, ‘You have stayed long enough at this mountain. Turn and take your journey, and go to the hill country of the Amorites and to all their neighbors in the Arabah, in the hill country and in the lowland and in the Negeb and by the seacoast, the land of the Canaanites, and Lebanon, as far as the great river, the river Euphrates. See, I have set the land before you. Oh man, I really hope this isn’t the right verse. That’s way out of my box! I know what comes next too… (Gulp.)

“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

Deuteronomy 31:6

Yep. That’s the one alright, but Hobbits don’t journey beyond The Shire! Well… there was that one adventurous gang of misfits. It doesn’t help that I’m part Elf. They enjoy traversing some, but they prefer to stay the same.

Galadriel: I pass the test. I will diminish, and go into the West and remain Galadriel.”

At least my Hobbit side has some spidey sense…

Frodo: “Then I know what I must do. I’m just afraid to do it.”

Galadriel: “Even the smallest person can change the course of the future.”

Yeah, sure Galadriel, leave it up to the smallest person to tackle the biggest mountain. Why am I always so intimidated!?

Hmmm… I guess sometimes I am that mountain. Move ’em on, head ’em out, rawhide! Keep movin’, movin’, movin’ Though they’re disapprovin’

  1. I can’t tell you how much I love this, my dear Tina. Your tackling of fear with humor-complete with both Dr. Who and Lord of the Rings references and the wonderful You Say!- is a lovely treat. I love my box, too, believe you me. But, yes, indeed, He calls us lovingly out of them. All for our good as well as the good of the world. Thanks for the reminder. I don’t fear the venturing out near as much when it’s brought to me with such a smile. 😊 Bless you.

    1. Thanks Bridget! Yes, it’s a great song! It’s funny, when I first heard that song I liked it, but not nearly as much as others did. I guess it wasn’t speaking to where I was. Then when I heard it more recently I really needed it so it moved me to tears. That has happened before with another one of her songs. It’s a matter of what you need to hear I suppose.

    1. Hehe. I didn’t expect that either. I’d written this piece a while back and was wracking my brain for what to use for the title photo. A cat in a box came to mind, but then when you mentioned the Cracker Jack Box the plan blossomed. 😃 You have a lovely weekend too! ☺
