Victory

Waking a bit melancholy isn’t abnormal for me, but I’ve been surprised a few times to wake up and smile at the day. Last Saturday was a bit of a melancholy start, but Jesus gave me something to smile about right away.

Next, I spent quite a bit of time with Him meditating on His goodness as I listened to song. As I got up to feed the cats I smiled more. Warm thoughts washed over me as I tidied the kitchen. Then suddenly things changed abruptly.

Andrew voiced how he was feeling about something: how God must feel about something. I responded with how I felt God sees things, from a bit of a different perspective. Then came words that hurt my feelings. Suddenly smiles turned to tears. Right away Andrew felt terrible and asked why I was hurt. It was his choice of words. Then he explained why He reacted as he did.

I continued cleaning. A few moments later Andrew apologized and then started to beat himself up. I was feeling terrible too. Suddenly a metaphorical grey sky was hanging over our home though the day had brought a blue one.

As Andrew started beating himself up, something snapped in me. I got feisty. (In a good way.)

I said to my husband, Don’t do it. We just had a misunderstanding. You were thinking one thing and I was thinking another thing.  Don’t let the devil work overtime. I was feeling happy. Anytime I start getting back up he wants to drag me down. Don’t let Him kick you in the head. Stomp on his head. He’s just trying to steal joy, but he doesn’t get the victory. Jesus already claimed that victory. Our joy is in Jesus. So stomp on his head. (Yes, definitely feisty.)

A few more moments passed and then Andrew said, You’re right. Thank you. When I went to give him a kiss he grabbed me and gave me quite the kiss. (Um, yeah… blushing. I’m not comfortable sharing the romantic stuff.) I guess he was impressed, huh?

Don’t do it. Don’t listen to the lies. Life can bring tough days or tough moments, but it doesn’t always have to be grey skies… I need to keep telling myself this too. Don’t let the devil rob you of joy and peace.

Victory

Game, set, match, he laughed

His eyes were fixed

I’ll steal from her…

She’s small

She’s weak

Easy pickings

I’ll make quick work forsure.

But she wasn’t fazed by the likes of him

She knew his tricks could never win

Knowing there’s power in Jesus’ name

She concluded his schemes were a losing game.

For there’s victory in that rugged cross

It’s how a loving Father saves the lost

It’s how an enemy becomes a friend

It’s how an orphaned child finds a home again.

For the lost get saved in Jesus arms

And He’s able to keep her safe from harm

She’ll know His lasting joy and peace

For she still believes there’s victory.

“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

–1 Corinthians 15:57

“Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep.  All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

John 10:7-10

  1. Oh Tina, Tina, Tina! I LOVE this post!! AMEN!! We already have the victory in JESUS’ name! What a powerful truth we’d do well to remind ourselves of often. 😊

I love your feisty spirit. It’s obvious Holy Spirit was speaking through you, to bring forth His truth for breakthrough. We may never know this side of Heaven what happened in the moments you spoke those words. Amazing!

I very much relate to what you’ve written. Here lately, our experience has been almost identical. What a ride it has been! Yet, the loving presence of Father God has been tangible. His strength has been all that has sustained many days. What a joy it is to read of how He is working in your lives too!

Thank you for sharing this sweet sis. As always, your poetry and writing speaks straight to my heart. Love you!! ♥️

    1. Wow… I am so tired this morning. I am fighting for words. My brain just doesn’t want to cooperate, but I appreciate your comment so much, Holly. God is good even when I’m tired. He does provide the pick me ups. ☺ Love you too sis. ❤

  2. Just managed to delete the last message, so can I remember what I said. Probably not, but here goes. I so understand this. I so get the message. Love is always there but it’s so easily masked. Whether that’s by words, actions, ego, anger, the darkness. But love is waiting to flood in, just got to give it a chance. Sometimes a bit of well placed feistiness is the catalyst to allow that love to flood back in. I know your tired, so very tired. Don’t be too hard and demanding on yourself. He is there for you. He is patient. He will always be with you on your journey. Enjoy your journey and find peace and happiness. Take care. Gary

  3. This post is full of lessons, both from your words, actions and sincerity. I love and learnt from how you refused to let the devil take control and the fact that YOU SPOKE and stood up for yourself and your home. May your home continue to abound in Love in Jesus Name.

P.S I am learning a lot about speaking out from you. Remember that post where you wrote about praying with people. This is awesome.

    1. Thank you so much little sister. ❤ Needed that reminder that I have done a couple of things where I spoke. Sometimes I do struggle to speak when I want to or should. I need to remember those victories. That is the title of this post after all. ☺ ❤

  4. You showed discernment, strength and love. This was such an encouraging reminder from your actions that when Satan tries to rob us of joy, we need discernment to understand those moments and realise that it is Satan. Strength to stand up and quell the dissention that he was trying to create and you showed love and compassion towards Andrew instead of taking a stance of finding fault.
May the Lord continue to hold you strong in His hands Tina.

  5. Love this Tina. We do have to stomp on his head. And we do have the victory. Good for you! And God bless you and Andrew. You both seem to be good at getting it right even if you get it wrong in the beginning.
