The Pines

Do the Pines pine for days gone by

When their leaves turn brown from the bite of plight?

Do they look back longingly at stolen days

When life becomes a desolate haze?

Or do they hang on tight

As they look ahead

To better ways and days instead?

You can’t go back

But you can hold onto hope

You can dream

You can praise 

He can keep you afloat 

The tears and fears can’t stay or last

For sorrows end 

And the best comes last. 

Do those who pine for days gone by

Know a God who weeps has heard every cry?

When they look ahead do they search the skies

Will they chase a dream that never dies?

He’s the very one who holds the stars

He’s a Savior, our shelter

And He’s never far. 

You can’t go back

But you can hold onto hope

You can dream

You can praise

He can keep you afloat

Those tears and fears can’t stay or last

For sorrows end

And the best comes last.

Eternal Hope and Future Happiness

“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

Let us then look off from the things which are seen; let us cease to seek for worldly advantages, or to fear present distresses. Let us give diligence to make our future happiness sure.”

  2. So beautiful and profound. I pray we can keep our focus on the unseen things. The seen things often distract us and discourage us. But the unseen things can bring us peace and joy, if we are diligent to keep our hearts in the right place. Blessings to you, my friend.

  3. That’s stunning. Beautiful writing and that message. That’s exactly why I keep seeing a bookshop in Switzerland.

    I was that Pine who tried to look back. But it was a distraction from living and trying to be a better person. Now hopefully I’m becoming that Pine looks ahead. Take care my friend.

  4. I am that pine who looks ahead….now…..
    After many trials and tribulations, I realized, even looking at the present was not worth it. So I stay focused on His Word and on the truths He promised me. I look ahead in faith….sometimes I fall. But off late it’s rather rare….so yay.
