So I made dinner. This is something I do… usually in the evenings. This seems about the right time.

As I’m digging right in Andrew is waiting for his to cool a bit. He looks over at me and says, Wow, my wife is amazing; she has a fireproof mouth. That woman can take a scoop full of Lava, put it in her mouth, swallow, and doesn’t even know it’s warm.

Yes, I laughed. I’m the same way with tea. Andrew has to let everything cool??????

What’s so wrong with piping hot? Be brave.

When I read that last line to him he said, let me see you do that with burning hot coals.

Now that’s just silly talk. Who eats coals?

Apparently, I misheard him. What he said was, I’d like to see you do that with something cold.

He can drink slushies in the Winter and not even feel it. If I eat icecream in the Summertime I shiver. Then I have to eat my fries to warm up!

The Reward of Kindness

“If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you.”

Proverbs 25:21-22

“As metals are melted by heaping coals upon them, so is the heart softened by kindness.”

Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Bible Commentary

“…and the Lord shall reward thee: with good things, for all the good done to thine enemy, whether it has the desired effect on him or not; or whether he rewards thee or not; see Romans 12:19-20.”

  1. Hi Tina, I also like my meal piping hot, not lukewarm. Love the thought, “As metals are melted by heaping coals upon them so is the heart softened by kindness.β€πŸŒΊ Have a lovely and blessed weekend!

    1. Wow…. I just realized that I missed some comments. Sorry I missed your comment, Superdad. (12 days old now…) Yep, differences can be good. We can learn from each other. Gain a different perspective and understanding.

  2. I like my meals hot, but some types of food seem to get hotter than others. Soup, for instance, is usually hotter to eat than meat and potatoes. I don’t like it so hot it burns my tongue. Same with hot drinks. I don’t like them to cool down too much, but can’t drink boiling water. πŸ™‚ I definitely don’t like cool coffee or tea or food unless the food is meant to be cold, like salads. I also don’t like ice-cold drinks. Actually it’s not good for the digestive tract to drink ice water or drinks. It puts it into spasm. So I do like to leave very cold drinks to “warm up” somewhat before drinking them.
