Look a Little Closer

We have a very thoughtful upstairs neigbor. He’s a wonderful neighbor. When he came back from Alaska he brought us some fish and dungeness crab. It’s really good! He also gave us some cash for taking care of his dog. We always tell him that we are more than willing to watch Charlie for nothing. It’s such an easy job. He’s always giving us so much.

On top of everything else he brought us two bags of blueberries, he keeps the yard very manicured and often shovels our steps in the Winter time. Not all neigbors are so kind and caring.

I knew when he returned from Alaska he would make quick work of all the weeds. I was right! I did laugh that I was right, and I was glad that I took the time to look closer and photograph all the flowers that were blooming on the weeds around the yard. Some of them were so teeny tiny!

He’s in the cool of the breeze 

In the storm, He’s the calm 

In the dark, He’s the dawn

People May Fail to Care, But Jesus Always Cares… He’s in every detail. 

“Those who are comfortable don’t care that others have trouble; they think it right that those people should have troubles. The tents of robbers are not bothered, and those who make God angry are safe. They have their god in their pocket.

 “But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or ask the birds of the air, and they will tell you. Speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish of the sea tell you. Every one of these knows that the hand of the Lord has done this. The life of every creature and the breath of all people are in God’s hand.”

Father God has Better Things for His Children…

Job appeals to facts. The most audacious robbers, oppressors, and impious wretches, often prosper. Yet this is not by fortune or chance; the Lord orders these things. Worldly prosperity is of small value in his sight: he has better things for his children. Job resolves all into the absolute proprietorship which God has in all the creatures. He demands from his friends liberty to judge of what they had said; he appeals to any fair judgment.

  5. I love running into kind souls like your neighbor. It is heartwarming to know that good people are out there. And how wonderful that you and Andrew were also kind and helpful to him as well. But on days when nice people are hard to find, I am thankful that we can remind ourselves that Jesus always cares.

  7. Love your poem and your photos. I love to photo “weeds”. I prefer to call them wildflowers. Sounds more sophisticated somehow. They can often be as pretty as cultivated flowers if not so large.

  10. The minute details all around us remind us of how God works. He cares and blesses us with a multitude of experiences, many seeming small and insignificant. But . . . they aren’t!
