Drowning

Spent too much time drowning in thoughts

Why don’t I believe? 

Why am I lost?

Silly ol’ me, when pounded by waves

Why can’t I learn… 

That Jesus still saves?

Believe… Receive Comfort.

“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.” –John 14:1 

“Here are three words, upon any of which stress may be laid. Upon the word troubled. Be not cast down and disquieted. The word heart. Let your heart be kept with full trust in God. The word your. However others are overwhelmed with the sorrows of this present time, be not you so. Christ’s disciples, more than others, should keep their minds quiet, when everything else is unquiet. Here is the remedy against this trouble of mind, Believe. By believing in Christ as the Mediator between God and man, we gain comfort.”

The Lord gave me this song directly after I put this piece together. It was the first song that I saw when I brought up my YouTube App… It made me cry so much. He is the God who sees me. (Genesis 16:13)

Some songs can definitly be open to interpretion. For me the “cheated and lied to” part of the stuggle comes straight from the devil himself.

Hey Tina….lovely post especially your poem….i can relate to it because o find myself in that spot sooooo many times……but this lockdown….has helped me conquer fear to a great extent and totally surrender to God instead…..I ttiedit for years before….but this pandemic definitely brought me closer to what God wanted of me all along….I guess….🦧😊🤗….

  3. Nice poem and surely a great word. Let not your heart be troubled! since you used the wave analogy and metaphor. you do remember Jesus saves or you would never mention it. Like Peter, we all step out on faith, knowing who Jesus is and then worry and the trouble thoughts grab our attention and we begin to sink, but O’ like pistol Pete, we cry out Lord. It is part of the process! We have the result of knowing we can walk on water when called and we can stay on top of the water when Christ is the focus. Then we know who to call when we lose focus! We should not be too hard on ourselves, we are human, we war in spirit but have to live in the flesh. Have a wonderful week! Sorry for writing such a long response!

    1. No apologies for a long response necessary. It wasn’t too long, and it was good to read…. especially the words “it’s part of the process” Sometimes this feels like it shouldn’t be part of the process and what I am going through is unusual. Too often I feel like I’m sinking and I can’t get my focus back.

      1. That’s because we judge it as a failure, so we tend to mope in it. I am a overthinker sometime. I once said I should be further along and should have to go to that. Then a voice said who told you that? Does the clay tell the potter when it is finish? I said whoa! So, if we accept and said okay, maybe the Lord is using this, it is easier to move on with our focus. I know you this concept already. But thanks for sharing and allowing me to share with you. it does help me to remember as well. We are not alone, we are human prone to the same challenges as others and many of us do get challenged. Especially when we desire to live right and according to our faith. And by the way, I bought a life-jacket, cause sinking is part of the journey..Lol

  7. A lovely poem. It all seems so simple when you break it down like that. Buy our emotions often can be a tangled mess that get in the way. Perhaps if we remember to constantly cling to Him, that would ease the pain. I like the way Matthew Henry put it, “Let your heart be kept with full trust in Him.” So true. Thanks for sharing this beautiful post ❤️

  8. Thank God that in our weakness He is strong! Like the apostle Paul said, “If we only have hope in this life that’s pretty pitiful.” Thankfully, we have been born again into a Living Hope that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for us. The world didn’t give it to us, and the world can’t take it away, sister! Blessings.
