Winter Woes
The dark and dreary days of Winter
Oft they leave me cold and blue
Waking bereft of warmth and gladness
Longing for a different view.
Where hath gone my joy and wonder?
Where are all my skies of blue?
Lord, have mercy
The way is murky
My soul is weary
My song’s out of tune.
Give me strength when storm clouds thunder
Guide the way when I’m confused
Father, loose the chains that bind me
Draw me close and make me new.

He Will Strengthen Us
And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
1 Peter 5:10
He Lifts Her Head
Hope looks forward
She doesn’t get stuck on today
Hope is confident
Things won’t always be this way
Hope doesn’t fear
When storm clouds come her way
Hope trusts the Lord
And He lifts her head in the rain.

“But you, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.”
Psalm 3:3
God is Able
And the lifter up of my head – The head, in time of trouble and sorrow is naturally bowed down, as if overpowered with the weight of affliction. See Psalm 35:14 : “I bowed down heavily as one that mourneth for his mother;” Psalm 38:6 : “I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day.” Compare Psalm 42:5; Psalm 44:25; Psalm 57:6; John 19:30. To lift up the head, therefore, or to raise one up, is to relieve his distresses, or to take away his troubles. Such a helper, David says, he had always found God to be, and he looks to him as one who is able to help him still. That is, he feels that God can so entirely take away his present griefs as to reinstate him in his former happy and honorable condition.

What amazing promises we are given in the Bible. God will restore us and strengthen us. God will lift our head. So very beautiful. It gives me great comfort to know that when we are down, we have the Lord by our side through our journey. β€

Such beautiful words Tina. Yes, we have our hope in Him, to strengthen us and lift us when we are down and only He is able to lift us up out of the miry pit.
Psalm 40:2. “He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.”

You made my day when I saw the e-mail notification of your new post. So good to see you and read your poetry again. I haven’t been on the computer much over the past few weeks, but it’s good to see your smiling face again. Love your poems. It’s so good to know the Lord lifts our heads when we are bowed down with life’s trials. God bless you and keep your head lifted high towards Him and may you see His glory.

Salutations, my friend! I’m not an expert on advice or anything, but I always felt that when the world is pulpy and grey, anyone could lighten it up. Have fun with ohana (sorry, my Hawaiian side kicking in), treat yourself, visit your favorite place, jam out to music, and reading the bible of course. That’s what I try to aspire to be, a source of joy for others. Anyways, stay stellar and safe, Tina.

Thanks so much Gavin. Those are all wonderful bits of encouragement and advice. A source of Joy for others is an amazing thing to aspire to. π You have a Hawaiin side, huh? That’s cool π. What’s your other side? Curiosity has kicked in.
You stay safe and steller as well. β€π§‘ππ

Oh, well I lived on Oahu for quite a while. I’m currently not residing there, but I do have family there that I visit from time to time and the style of clothing and terms are kind of correlated to my style. As for my other side, I’m not too sure. Thank you for your time : )

Tina, my beautiful sister in Christ….
Winter is only a season.
But He is your external reason.
He fills your cup with gladness.
Taking away all the cold and sadness.
Love love and lots more love….

Lovely poems and reflections, Tina. I don’t see a “like” button, but I did like it very much. He does indeed lift our head. And when we lift our own head to look to Him, where our help comes from, he sustains us.
