You Have Become Weak 👈

She points the accusatory finger……. at herself. Yes, I am weak. It’s probably no secret. I do struggle a lot! 😕

You have become weak, so make yourselves strong again. –Hewbrews 12:12 (NCV)

I make a lot of excuses too. To be fair, not all weakness is due to slothfulness and excuses. Sometimes life kicks your legs out from underneath you. Not always in one go. As Casting Crowns worded it, it’s a “slow fade… 🐌 when you give yourself away.”

Yes, we can give ourselves away. But it doesn’t usually happen overnight. It can happen little by little as challenges wear us down over the long run. We can get further and further from God by circumstances, distractions, struggles, challenges and a busy schedule. We can give more of our time to things we believe will fulfil us or lift us. We do need some of these things. We do need to make time for them. Even God knows this and tells us to eat, drink and rest. He also encourages us to go the journey with companions. (We need each other.) We can’t gain physical and emotional strength without these things. We need support physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Yes, there is a spiritual component to strength. It comes from God.

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Psalms 18:1-3

Here’s where I’ve become weak. I’m not spending time with God in prayer. Nowhere near as much as I should. To be fair, there have been so many things pulling me in too many different directions. Time is in short supply and life makes many demands. College itself takes a good portion of my time. BUT that’s still no excuse. I have to trust God and carve out that time that I think I can’t spare, because I can’t afford not to. If my times are in God’s hands, which I believe they are, then I have time for prayer. He will give me the strength to stay on track with everything else. God shouldn’t come last. He should come first. THEN all of these things that he knows are needed will be given as well.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Matthew 6:33

Yes, I am stubborn…. But, I’m not the only one. So are you. 👉 😳 👈

While I’m on the subject of finger pointing

….Every time you criticize someone, you condemn yourself. It takes one to know one. Judgmental criticism of others is a well-known way of escaping detection in your own crimes and misdemeanors. But God isn’t so easily diverted. He sees right through all such smoke screens and holds you to what you’ve done.

You didn’t think, did you, that just by pointing your finger at others you would distract God from seeing all your misdoings and from coming down on you hard? Or did you think that because he’s such a nice God, he’d let you off the hook? Better think this one through from the beginning. God is kind, but he’s not soft. In kindness he takes us firmly by the hand and leads us into a radical life-change.

Romans 2:1-4 (MSG)

Fortunately, we’re also so loved. ❤❤❤

When the law came into the picture, sin grew and grew; but wherever sin grew and spread, God’s grace was there in fuller, greater measure. No matter how much sin crept in, there was always more grace.

Romans 5:20 (VOICE)

  1. Your whole life is a prayer to God, Tina. And, like King David, you know where to go for help. Furthermore, you aren’t too prideful to ask for it. Our Heavenly Father knows you because He made you, sister! We all have feet of clay. Me too. 🤗

  2. Tina, yes we do become weak when we do not spend time with God as we should. With the change in routine for you and the amount of time you had being different, it is natural to struggle to find a new rhythm. I have had times like that too and have found that I was looking to have my time with God in exactly the same way as I had before. But I had to realise that my time with him might look different but as long as I am connecting with him my soul is filled. I pray that you can be intentional with carving time for God even if it looks different to what you are used to. He is your lifeline, the spring of living water. May you renew your soul and strength as you draw close to him.

    1. Thank you so much, Manu. Yes, it does look different and that’s something that I have to adjust to as seasons change. Change is hard, but it’s necessary to get us where God needs us to be.

  3. I’m weak and I struggle too. Life is just plain hard. Some seasons are harder than others. And the enemy is constantly attacking. You have written such life giving words here. I needed the reminder as much as you. Thank you, my friend. I stand beside you in prayer – for both of us and anyone reading this who needs it! 🙏♥️🙌

    1. Awe, thank you so much Bridget. ❤ Your love and support is so wonderful to me. Yes, some seasons are definitely harder. And the enemy tries to hold us down when we’re weak. But I can imagine Jesus giving him a good right hook. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣 and the final knock out punch. If he can make a whip and cause a stir, just imagine what he does for his children who are pinned. He still fights our battles. Thank you so much for the the love and prayers. You have mine as well. 🙏❤🙌

  4. Prayer is encouraging and powerful! Sometimes it doesn’t get answered the way we think it should but it should be a lifeline nevertheless because God has the greater plan!!

  5. Hi Tina, Psalm 18 is a favorite of mine, especially “I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you.” It is easy to become so busy and rely on self-power rather than God’s power. We have to reach out in prayer, let go and let God. I know it is easier said than done. It is something I have been working on. 😊 Peace, strength, and blessings! 💗🙏🦋🌺
