The Right Direction

I was reading my daily snippet of “Worry Less Pray More” by Donna K. Maltese, when I realized that I’ve been viewing the path ahead with a pessimistic dread. It’s been a long haul.

Unfamiliar Paths…

I will lead the blind on unfamiliar roads. I will lead them on unfamiliar paths. I will turn darkness into light in front of them. I will make rough places smooth. These are the things I will do for them, and I will never abandon them. –Isaiah 42:16 GW

No matter what angle you come at this verse from, it has a hopeful message and outcome. Nevertheless, sometimes unfamiliar paths can seem to engulf your life. This can skew your sight and focus.

Donna writes, “Worrying about what may happen in the future, what to do in the present, or how to get over the past can make you feel as if you are blind, walking in the dark, lost and confused. Yet you need not worry… because God promises to lead you down unfamiliar paths.

I suddenly realized that I had been viewing things from a totally different angle. Somewhere along the way, I had stopped viewing God as my help in time of need. Instead, I began looking at the waves as Peter did when Jesus called him out on the water. With our eyes on the waves, they seem to be endless and dramatically difficult.

We can look at things from a place of dread or fear when the path is unfamiliar. Furthermore, when we’re worn, we can also become weak.

But God quiets the storm through verse (as the good father He is) to reasure us that His discipline isn’t too difficult. He won’t leave us on these rough, unfamiliar paths. Thank God for sisters and brothers in Him who remind us of that hope by shining the light back on the fairness and compassion of the Lord.

God is a Father who is Fair. He isn’t unreasonable

GOD is fair and just; He corrects the misdirected, Sends them in the right direction.

–Psalms 25:8  The Message

  1. God leads us on unfamiliar paths – this was a comforting reminder as I can be one who stresses over what if and the uncertain future in a particular aspect of my life. I have to constantly realign my focus to God otherwise worry and fear takes centre stage. Thank you Tina 💙💐

    1. Yes, I’m certain we all need to realign our focus to God at times, Manu. Worry is like a run away train. We need God to stop it in it’s tracks. And thank you, Manu. 🩵💐

  2. Tina, I am feeling grateful to read this timely testament. As the world churns forward in its many lifeboats, it is so easy to feel overwhelmed and focus only on the ever-present waves of another storm. May our eyes look forward to see Jesus.
