One foggy morning I went out to experience a view of the world in it’s hazy state. It really was beautiful. Especially by the river.

That’s when I caught a glimpse of something new. Something white and hair-like had formed on the bark of some Aspen trees. As I touched it with my gloved hand I couldn’t tell if it was ice or fungus. However, I was placing my bets on ice as it was quite the chilly morning and it seemed light and delicate of nature.

So, what is it? This strange phenomenon, this Hair Ice, sometimes called Frost Beard or Ice Wool only occurs under certain conditions. So it’s kind of rare! In order for ice to form on the bark of apparently rotting or dead trees there has to be a fungus present within the wood called Exidiopsis Effusa. With the right humidity, and this particular fungus that prevents water from forming large ice crystals, silky looking hair-like stands emerge causing branches to grow a coat of fur. 😊 Amazing!
A not so random, but rather specific event. Only more proof that an awesome God created this fallen, yet beautifully fantastic world. 🌎
For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
