A Yorkshire Summer

Today has been a “perfect storm” kind of a day. I mean this metaphorically. I was up half the night, so I woke in a right awful mood. I was too tired to think and function, but too wired to sleep. So I started blurting out all of the things that were bothering me. I felt like I was losing my mind. Then I beat myself up for losing my mind. Andrew told me that I was adorable. Apparently I can’t even get grumpy right.

One of the highlights of my morning, however, was when Andrew responded to my question about where the sun went: The government took it away.

I wasn’t expecting this answer, so it made me laugh.

When the sun doesn’t shine I always think of that one line in Robinhood: Prince of Thieves when Azeem says, Does the sun ever shine in this godforsaken country? This makes me smile too. Sometimes I find cynical so humorous. I guess that’s why Eeyore always goes over so big. We all are a bit Eeyore sometimes.

Here in beautiful British Columbia, Canada we are definitely having a Yorkshire, England summer. Not to be confused with a Yorkie summer. The poor chap in the photo below is having one of those. I understand his pain. Oh man… the look on his face.

Yes, sometimes life comes out of nowhere, but there are always highlights. Keep on running!

  1. Love those last words, just perfect. It’s definitely a Yorkshire summer day here in Yorkshire. It’s a three jumper (sweater) day and definitely two umbrellas as well. Here I think the answer is our incompetent government has probably lost the sun.
And the locals would have shouted at Azeem – it’s perfect weather for the Rhubard.
Having owned a Yorkshire Terrier I can confirm that the big dog is in for the shock of his life.
    Hope your smiling. Gary

    1. Better than smiling this morning. Something that sounds quite like laughter is escaping my lips. In fact it is laughter. Thanks, Superdad. Hope your smiling too!

Cute post, I especially love this:
