All The Buzz

It’s BEEn a while since any bees have made an appearance on my blog. Bees are important; they help trees to bear fruit. Here are some photos that I’ve taken over the years of these fuzzy fliers. The bee facts were sourced from Ontariohoney.ca

“Bees have five eyes – two compound eyes and three tiny ocelli eyes.”

I’m sure this one was posing for me.

“Bees carry pollen on their hind legs called a pollen basket. Pollen is a source of protein for the hive and is needed to feed to the baby bees to help them grow.”

“A honeybee can fly 24 km in an hour at a speed of 15 mph. Its wings beat 200 times per second or 12,000 beats per minute.”

Help in Time of Need

“All nations surrounded me; in the name of the Lord I cut them off! They surrounded me, surrounded me on every side; in the name of the Lord I cut them off! They surrounded me like bees; they went out like a fire among thorns; in the name of the Lord I cut them off! I was pushed hard, so that I was falling, but the Lord helped me.”

Psalm 118:10-13

Patience, Joy and Praise in Affliction

“The account the psalmist here gives of his troubles is very applicable to Christ: many hated Him without a cause; nay, the Lord Himself chastened Him sorely, bruised Him, and put Him to grief, that by His stripes we might be healed. God is sometimes the strength of His people, when He is not their song; they have spiritual supports, though they want spiritual delights. Whether the believer traces back his comfort to the everlasting goodness and mercy of God, or whether he looks forward to the blessing secured to him, he will find abundant cause for joy and praise”

  1. Small, looking insignificant and so easily overlooked. Yet bees are vital. They have a key role to play in the life of this planet. A role they continue to perform with out fail.
Everything and everybody has a role to play in life. Nobody is insignificant. We all have a purpose.

    1. Right! There is more than one way to look at nature. Not just how God uses it to sustain us, but there is also so much metaphor in all that He has created. Nature is a bit like a blue print of His plans. Look to the ant… right? See how the ant isn’t lazy. God uses all of it to teach those who are paying attention. ☺ It’s fun to learn too!

  3. Nice and I read this outloud to Nate who then reminded me that in theory bees weigh too much that their wings shouldn’t support them to fly…interesting facts my friend and love that commentary at the end too❀️

    1. That’s a pretty amazing fact. I feel like my wings are too small to support my body too sometimes. πŸ˜€ Some days it is really hard to get off the ground. Then I catch a good breeze and I’m off again. One day I will stay airborn. πŸ˜€ One day I will even soar. She’s a hopeful thinker she is. πŸ˜‚
