Wings

Too long I’ve been grounded

Lord, where are my wings?

Please teach me of Your glory

Until my heart sings.

May my wings then unfold

Lift me high in the air

When I’m down on my knees

Lord, please meet me there.

Too long I’ve been grounded

Lord, where are my wings?

Please teach me Your story

And the blessings life brings.

May my wings then unfold

Let me rise above the noise

Till all I can hear

Is the sweetness of Your voice.

For too long I’ve been grounded

Rooted like a tree

Bound to the earth

Lord, bind me to Thee.

The Lord is our Strength and Resiliency

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

Psalm 73:26

“Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall. But those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.”

Isaiah 40:31

“The phrase, ‘to wait on Yahweh,’ means to wait for his help; that is, to trust in him, to put our hope or confidence in him. It is applicable to those who are in circumstances of danger or want, and who look to him for his merciful interposition. Here it properly refers to those who were suffering a long and grievous captivity in Babylon, and who had no prospect of deliverance but in him. The phrase is applicable also to all who feel that they are weak, feeble, guilty, and helpless, and who, in view of this, put their trust in Yahweh. The promise or assurance here is general in its nature, and is as applicable to his people now as it was in the times of the captivity in Babylon.”

  1. This poem is so beautiful! Waiting on the Lord can be tough, as we are often on a different timetable. But it can also be such a sweet place, if we can learn to cling to Him in the process. We will never know a more comforting place to be than in His arms.

    1. So true, Bridget. It’s definitely not easy at times but thankfully as we draw near to Him He draws near to us and when we are struggling to hold onto Him He always holds on to us. Blessings friend. ❤

  2. While your wings are strengthening and unfolding, take time to refuge in the shelter of God’s wings.

“With his feathers, he will cover you under his wings; you will find safety. His truth is your shield and armor.” Psalm 91:4 I loved your poem especially, “teach me Your glory Until my heart sings.” Love and blessings! 💗🦅🌷🌺

    1. Hi Deepak! Thank you so much for your comment, kind words and recommendation! That’s so nice of you. 😃

I’m a Christian. I believe that there is one God and one Lord through Jesus Christ and that all things on earth were created through Him and that through Him we exist. 😊

  3. Speaking of being grounded…lol I definitely feel a tug and pull between remaining grounded and having my head in the clouds! I believe both components are necessary and help us remain centered as we wait on the Lord. Blessings!
