Living to Die

I want to follow in Your footsteps, Lord

I want my arms spread open wide

I want to love with grace and mercy

And leave behind my foolish pride.

You took the thorns and scorned the shame

You lead Your co-heirs to live this way

To love the wretched, the weak and the lame

The truth is we need healing

Everyone of us the same.

I want to remember the burdens you mercifully bore

I want to reflect the life you willingly gave

Lord, help me to live my life for You

For the Savior who washes my sins away.

For I’m undeserving of Your generous pardon

I could never free my burdened soul

Thus you offer Your hand seated on high

May we remember the cross

And live to die.

Fix Your Eyes on Jesus

“Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end. He did not give up because of the cross! On the contrary, because of the joy that was waiting for Him, He thought nothing of the disgrace of dying on the cross, and He is now seated at the right side of God’s throne.”

Hebrews 12:2 (GNT)

We Die to Ourselves to Live for Christ

“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.”

John 12:24 (ESV)

“Calling the crowd to join His disciples, he said, “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to saving yourself, your true self. What good would it do to get everything you want and lose you, the real you? What could you ever trade your soul for?”

Mark 8:35-37 (The Message)

Jesus: The Shepherd of my Soul

Following in Christ’s Foot Steps (The Scriptures are our ‘How to’ guide)

“This is the kind of life you’ve been invited into, the kind of life Christ lived. He suffered everything that came His way so you would know that it could be done, and also know how to do it, step-by-step.

1 Peter 2:24-25 (The Message)

  1. If we could keep the magnitude of the cross in mind every day, I think it would truly help alter our perspective. Day in and day out, we would face each task, each difficulty, each moment with fresh eyes. Yet we also need to remember how deeply loved we are by our Savior. Thanks for sharing this beautiful poem! It gave me much to ponder. ♥️🤗

    1. There are definitely seasons our sight can go a bit dim. Remembering the cross is important. I agree. I also agree we also have to balance that with how loved we are by our Savior. It’s easy to lose sight of both. Some season require more grace and rest. You’re so welcome and thanks for the visit. ❤🤗

  2. Hi Tina, Fixing our eyes on Jesus and following Him is the way to go. Jesus is our rock and salvation. He leads us, guides us, and protects us. I enjoyed the song Sheperd of My Soul; it was new to me. Cyber hugs and blessings! 💖💐🌺

  3. Beautiful Tina. Yes, the only way to truly live is to die daily in the Lord and to follow in His footsteps. We all need to strive for this lifestyle, and it starts with our mindset.

  4. Once again you have delivered a message for the ages… informing us to put on the helmet of salvation that puts the cross in front view, because it is by the cross we were delivered salvation. The weight of the world and the sins of humans was placed upon Jesus… Now we die to live! Blessings! 🌹😘
