I won’t chase mirages
My soul’s too thirsty for the truth
Set my heart to flame
Till I’m wholly consumed
And if the earth should shake
I’ll be standing through and through
I won’t settle for tarnished trinkets
I’ve found my treasure trove in You.

Where Your Treasure is…
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Matthew 6:19-21
“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
Matthew 6:19-23
Fix your Affections on Heaven
“A man crossing a stream on a log, if he will look across at some object steadily, will be in little danger. If he looks down on the dashing and rolling waters, he will become dizzy, and fall. So Jesus says, in order that the conduct may be right, it is important to fix the affections on heaven. Having the affections there – having the eye of faith single, steady, unwavering – all the conduct will be correspondent.”
— Barnes Notes on the Bible
“Christ counsels to make our best things the joys and glories of the other world, those things not seen which are eternal, and to place our happiness in them. There are treasures in heaven. It is our wisdom to give all diligence to make our title to eternal life sure through Jesus Christ, and to look on all things here below, as not worthy to be compared with it, and to be content with nothing short of it.”
Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary
