Keep Watering

God is so wise. Not only is He always steps ahead of us (as well as with us), but His mercies are also new every morning.

I must admit, I don’t always see those mercies, especially when it seems as if God isn’t working. I’m sure that we miss most of them in our struggles. It’s easy to lose sight of them in the challenge and chaos.

However, this morning, as I watered the lawn, I saw something that inspired me. I truly needed this mercy. I’m thankful that God is the lifter of our heads.

But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory and the One who raises up my head.

Psalm 3:3

The back lawn is looking a right sight. Last Summer, a heat wave turned it completely brown. Not all of it grew back, so our upstairs neighbour took a stab at reseeding it. However, his new puppy began digging up the lawn. It became a futile battle.

Nevertheless, when opportunity knocks you should open that door and give it another go. As our neighbour has left for a work trip (along with his puppy) I felt this would be the perfect opportunity to work on the lawn.

I’ll spare you the details of how to reseed. I have no idea if I’m doing it right! However, it’s grass. It’s a weed. How hard can this be?

I did read some of the instructions and I’ve tried my best to follow them. Nonetheless, I haven’t been feeling confident that these seeds will take root.

Then this morning something gave me hope and inspiration to continue watering.

Can you spot it in the photo?

As the grass grows it produces seed. If I were to allow it to grow, the lawn would reseed itself. Isn’t this how God grows His Kingdom? (Matthew 28:19-20) The Lord allows us to grow, commanding us to go and sow.

As we grow in knowledge and understanding, we spread His word (seed) to others. We don’t know if that seed will take. We do our best to prepare the soil (as I tried to do by tilling up the tough earth before I planted my seed), however, if we keep watering, those who receive that refreshment will grow and sow as well.  All that sowing increases productivity. God IS always working. He set it all in motion long ago and continues to monitor and guide the progress, lifting heads, hands, hearts and even pen through His disciples so that all may receive His mercies anew each morning.

Keep Watering

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Galatians 6:9

Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest, that He will send out laborers into His harvest.”

Matthew 9:37-38

  1. Tina, a lovely and inspiring post! The beauty of nature and the resilience of plants growing and dispersing seeds are great reminders; to rely on the Lord and grow and sow His Word.
    Have a wonderful week!❤️🦋🐝🌺
