Let it Flow

I once was your river

Lord, you gave me the words

Now I’m silently drowning

I’m hungry and I thirst.

Did I take a wrong turn?

I used to delight

In Your goodness and majesty

I once basked in your light.

Yet my heart yearned for more

I felt isolated and torn

I thought my roots went deep

Yet I grew unsteady in the storm.

Now steady me in the wilderness

And give my heart wings to fly

Untether my feathers ๐Ÿชถ

And remove the dust from my eyes.

Lord, use me for your glory

Guide my steps and take my hand

Make me a melodious instrument

A quenching voice in dry lands.

As I lean in, draw me closer

Give life to these dry bones

Fill my trough to overflowing

Lord, my God, let it flow.

Side Note:ย No, this wasnโ€™t penned by a horse. I didnโ€™t ask God to fill my cup because I didnโ€™t think a cup was big enough. I wanted something bigger! Of course, I could have chosen a swimming pool, but a trough seemed a good description.

According to The Merriam Webster Dictionary, it can also meanย a long and narrow or shallow channel or depression (as between waves or hills). A depression between waves or hills sounds like the perfect place to metaphorically need a refill in life. It also spells hope. The โ€˜inbetweensโ€™ are not a destination. Theyโ€™re only a stop or a slow trickle on the journey as a whole. Thus, itโ€™s very possible to flow very heartily again. โค๏ธ

Living Water  = The Holy Spirit = The Spirit and Third person of God

On the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood up and called out in a loud voice, โ€œIf anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said: โ€˜Streams of living water will flow from within him.โ€™โ€ He was speaking about the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were later to receive. For the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet been glorified.โ€ฆ

John 7:37- 39
