God's Whispers of Truth

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance.

~Ecclesiastes 3:4

1) Laughter relieves stress and tension for up to 45 minutes (and we all know stress is a big health crusher).

2) Laughter boosts the immune system by increasing immune cells and infection fighting antibodies which improves the bodies resistance to disease.

3) Increases endorphins released by your brain which result in feelings of well-being and pleasure.

4) Lowers blood pressure. This coexists with the first point because stress is a big culprit of most health issues. Laughter and a good diet can lower blood pressure.

5) Laughter works the abs because the stomach muscles expand and contract just like doing crunches.

Depression

Depression

The best step that I've taken in these last couple of months was when I dropped my Sunday post. Shortly after this I decided I wouldn't read blogs on weekends as well. This has been really good for me. It's given me a chance to shut out all distractions and simply listen.  One weekend I [...]

No Visitors

No Visitors

When Andrew was denied entry to the hospital he was sure that this would be a problem for me, so he spoke up. I didn't want there to be any problems. I knew things had to be this way, so I said to him, "It's Okay."  It wasn't okay. I was okay in that moment, [...]

No More Pain

No More Pain

"The Pain Goes Away."  Apparently I needed the words from the song I shared on Wednesday for more than one reason. Mid Wednesday I woke my husband up from his nap to tell him that I needed him to take me to the hospital. I'd talked to my doctor earlier on the phone who told [...]

Direction

Direction

Tuesday morning I woke feeling utterly lost. I had no sense of direction. I knew that I needed to make some changes to my blogging schedule (among other things), but for the life of me I couldn't solidify a game plan. We womenkind enjoy poking fun of the menfolk who stubbornly refuse to stop and [...]

Waking Up

Waking Up

To write or not to write, that is the question. Should I start the week off with something in my drafts, some poetry, or should I write about my week?  Okay, let's start with where I am. That's a good place to start, right?  For the most part April was a better than normal month [...]

An Encouraging Day

An Encouraging Day

April 21, 2020 Today has been one of my better health days even though it started off really rough. I woke up feeling unwell, a bit glum and frustrated because I hate waking up feeling so run over.  I was certain that this was going to be another one of those days where I'd accomplished [...]

Try, Try, Try Again

Try, Try, Try Again

I wrote this back in February. I almost threw out the baby with the bathwater again! It isn't that this piece is unpromising… It's just that it's still in progress. I added some up to date thoughts at the end. --- February 2020, *Groan* Last Thursday I stood in the kitchen and let out my [...]
