The Pluck of the Draw

He came up short again. He supposed it was his lot in life. Consistently being low man on the totem pole isn’t easy, but he showed courage in the face of adversity. You win some and you lose some, right? So it would have been if the Odds weren’t always stacked against him. The Odds had it going on. They were a rough and tumble crowd who towered high above him. I tell ya, he was truly the pluck of the draw, given that he was the shortest straw.
