Her Champions

Night was falling, and he always fell so fast

Her hopes were high, but they all at once were dashed

Melancholy was a persistent companion

But Joy was faithfully her strongest champion

Coaxing her out of every jeering day

Reminding her that tomorrow would faithfully guide the way

Hope was on the horizon, and what a sight he was

Excitement was calling, creating quite the buzz.

Night had quickly faded, bringing morning to her side

Her heart was filled with peace as she glimpsed the Auburn skies

Her eyes they shone with wonder, when sunlight pierced the dawn

Arriving like a whisper to tell her “Carry On.”

“It’s Always darkest before the dawn”

She told the keenest of ears

“Don’t give up on hope, he’ll see you through”

“He’s seen me through these many years”

And when Joy seems so far away, remember it’s simply a lie.

Look to the horizon where Hope hangs his coat

And you’ll see Joy by his side.  ❤
