I really need some “Freedom” songs. Apparently I’ve been trying to do things in my own strength. I’m not sure how this happened. (I don’t like that it happened either.)
Our strength and help comes from the Lord Jesus. Joy is found in Him also. So waking up feeling unwell means that I need to get back in the habit of seeking Him first thing in the day.
The verse below is one of my favorite verses, so I’ve been kicking myself, and I keep getting teary. Nevertheless, sorrow is better than laughter. It doesn’t feel this way. However, many things that are good for us don’t feel good. Nevertheless, God’s love is unfailing, so He is also a comforter in our distress.
Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. ❤
Psalm 143:8

Jen Ledger
Jen is an amazing Christian artist. This English-born drummer has been a co-vocalist with the American Christian rock/ hard rock band, Skillet, for many years. More recently she stepped out from behind her kit with her own EP. (I’ll share some Skillet eventually also.)
Jen can play some mean drums. However, for her solo EP she’s flyin’ without them as she brilliantly vocalises her faith and relationship with Jesus.
The last song is sung from the perspective of the Lord calling us to fall into His arms. ❤ It’s a truly wonderful piece. When she sings the line “You’re not the one who needs to be strong.” I lose it. (Yep, more tears.) I’ve been trying to do this in my own strength, but we don’t have to go it alone.
“Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free.”
Psalm 118:5 (ESV)
I will check out the songs 🙂

They’re all good, but the last one is the one that makes me cry. It’s really good.

Beautiful verse (Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. – Psalm 143:8.) Love it. Thanks for sharing that. And thanks for introducing me to this artist. I have heard of Skillet. But I didn’t know the drummer had her own music now. Exciting! Great post. Thanks for always sharing your heart and being so transparent. You are a blessing.

Thank you. Yes, I was excited to see that she’s producing her own music now as well. She’s a very gifted young lady—a role model for many adoring fans of hers.

I can so relate…I’m guilty of trying to go in my own strength and then when I realize that I’m distant from God as a result, I’m like why or how did I let this happen again!! It’s a frustrating cycle that I need to break!!
I’ll have to listen to those songs, I remember listening to skillet frequently a few years ago and then some of the lyrics freaked me out LOL but I’ll have to check her music out:)

I know what you mean about Skillet. I heard one of their songs recently that made me go hmmmm. It was rather angry. When I looked up their explanation for the song, and how it’s supposed to be helping people, it still made me say, hmmm. I’m not so sure about that one. It made me feel like they were feeding anger. But then some of their other stuff can be amazing. So I don’t know what to think, especially when you read the You Tube comments and people seem to be reveling in the anger. I really hate to pick songs apart though.
