F(l)ight Songs #1

The photo for this post is the Eagle Nebula. πŸ˜ƒ Amazing, huh? Photo credit goes to Pixabay.com userWikiImages. However, credit for the creation of the heavens goes to Jesus .

It’s time for some musical motivation. First were my “Fight Songs.” Then came “Freedom Songs.” The two have merged to become “F(l)ight Songs.”

Fight combined with the freedom we find in God’s love lifts us up on wings like eagles because Jesus is the one fighting for us. He Shelters us under His wings even. (I do love metaphor!) With that in mind it’s time to get some lift. Light is in there, too, because Jesus is the light of the world.

“Those who follow Christ shall not walk in darkness. They shall not be left without the truths which are necessary to keep them from destroying error, and the directions in the way of duty, necessary to keep them from condemning sin.”

Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary

I promised some Skillet, so I am delivering. Skillet is a Christian rock/ hard rock band that was formed in Memphis Tennessee in 1996. As I mentioned in Freedom Songs #1 This is the band that started Jen Ledger’s music career (at the age of 18.) Not all of Skillet’s songs are so raucous. The first one is quite tame. It’s also very beautiful. I could give you a bunch of other facts, but that’s not really my style. The music can sing it’s own praises.

“So here I am lifting up my heart to the one who holds the stars.”

“I’m unashamed. I’m wideawake. Not gonna hide. Can’t deny You’re my everything. Here’s to the free who still believe You’re the star of the show that we came to see.”

“In the darkness You shine. Can You keep me safe tonight. When I’m down on my knees You are what I believe.”

I Am the Light of the World

“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, β€œI am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.””

John 8:12 English Standard Version (ESV)

“When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?”

Psalm 8:3-4

  1. I love metaphors, too, Tina. And especially this one, under the shelter of His wings. We can’t get much closer to Him than that. It makes you feel cozy, warm, protected, loved all at the same time. And the wings of an eagle have actually been given to us to soar with high above the problems of life. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

    1. So true. I do feel very protected! Just like a baby chick! 🐣🐀πŸ₯ You’re very welcome. Thanks for stopping by my nest. ☺
