Alright, she’s on light duty. She also needs to talk about herself in third person. It helps. It really does.
Let me ask you how you’re doing. I’ve been running a bit ragged myself. Nevertheless, they call this blessed.
I have a poem to go with this. Are you surprised? No, neither am I.
But before I share my masterpiece of poetic genius (😎) I want to talk about being kind to yourself. (Or showing yourself some grace.)
Grace is a truly wonderful thing. What is grace you ask? No you didn’t? I’m going to tell you anyways. Grace is undeserved mercy. This means that we’re still a work in progress, but God gives us both time and help to grow.
I don’t show myself enough of this thing called grace. This is part of why I’m such a wreck. There’s a little thing called pace. (I’m saying this to myself especially.) Of course, there are times when we need to pick up the pace a little. Knowing the signs of those seasons helps. More on this in a future post, God willing.
Until then I have a story for you. This is proof that the Old Testament is neither all fire and brimstone, nor outdated.
There once was this fellow named Moses. Yes, he made quite a name for himself. Technically, the Lord did that. Actually, that’s a pretty big technicality.
Anywho…
Moses wasn’t such a great speaker. I can relate. So he was really hesitant to do what God asked of him. He didn’t think He could do it. God became a bit angry about this because Moses wasn’t trusting the Lord to give him the words.
Scripture says that God’s anger burned against Moses. So maybe the Lord was more than a bit angry. 😬
Fortunately, the Lord is kind so He reassured Moses that He would give him the words. Despite the Lord’s reassurance, Moses still had stage fright. So God said (paraphrasing here) “Alright, how about your brother Aaron? I know that he’s a great speaker. Tell Him what to say. I will help you both.”
The key word here is “help.” Even though Moses hesitated, making the Lord a tad angry, God’s anger lasted but a moment. He showed Moses some grace and gave him that help. Some support even. In the midst of battle, Aaron (joined by a gent named Hur) would again assist Moses by holding up his arms when he’d become too weak. Later, when Moses was taking on way too much, running headlong for burn-out (or maybe that should be absent mindedly), his father-in-law (Jethro) advised him to delegate.
God has our backs. He knew we were hopeless and needed help and support. Therefore, the cross that supported Jesus’ weight included the weight of our sin. Hence, His grace supports the believer so we can get back up and run the race at a healthy pace.
They Call This Blessed (Rest)
I just emotionally ate chocolate again
I’m hopeful that tomorrow will be a better day
I never did make myself do much
I’m hopeful I won’t always be out to lunch.
I was stressed, I’m a mess
But they call this blessed
I’m hopeful they’re right
Will I pass life’s test?
I got lost in the mist and couldn’t find my way
I’m hopeful tomorrow will be a brighter day
The air was fresh. It felt like rain.
I’m hopeful that flowers will bloom again.
I was cynical, I’m a wreck
But they call this blessed
I’m hopeful they’re right
That in God’s care I rest.

“For His anger lasts only a moment, but His favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.”

Ok let’s keep the third party going. This Pippi is really good at writing and getting a message across. Really good. We are often really good at seeing burn out in others but far too frequently are blind to our own internal wellbeing. We do need to trust in our faith and remember to spread that load. We can do this ❤️❤️

Thanks Superdad. Yep when God is on our side nothing is impossible. Sharing the load is important. We CAN do this. ❤❤

I agree, I need to extend more grace to myself too. I am so thankful that God has our backs, supporting us, and helping us along the way. What a blessing. We all need grace to keep up our pace! Thank you for sharing. Blessings, my friend. ❤️

Tina, We are all works in progress, but we are blessed our God is forgiving, loving, and merciful. His grace toward us is undeserved. The beauty is that God gives us time to grow and to learn to soar on wings like eagles. 🦅 Cyber hugs! 💖🌼🦋🌺

Well… chocolate is a tough one. I have to have a really determined and good reason to avoid it and it’s only a temporary measure. My birthday will be coming up in a bit. I will definitely need some chocolate cake. I think I deserve it. 😃

That’s my biggest weakness too. Please tell me you’re gonna choose a nice truffe cake….that’s my favourite type of chocolate cake.
Absolutely, you deserve 2 or 3 of those on your birthday 😉
