Do you struggle with Prioritizing? Does your day end up a bit of a mess because your focus has been a mess? Me too. I won’t lie, it’s not easy to prioritize. It’s especially tricky when you’ve been going through a long desert season and all you really want is a change of scenery. The dry desert heat starts to make that cool glass of water look really good. Those trees nearby are a wonderful source of shade.
Alright, so these are metaphors. Insert whatever has drawn your attention away from the Kingdom of God in your struggles (or exceedingly dry season). Then press restart and decide to start over. This isn’t easy either, but it can be done. Jesus even welcomes it and is willing to help.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30
When we set our hearts and minds on the Savior we find our shady spot to rest. Even in our deserts there’s a place for those who thirst.
Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”
John 4:10
Our primary Passion must be God. For God is the light of the world. He illuminates our path out of the desert and quenches our thirst. When we put Jesus first everything else falls into place. He provides all: guidance, hope, peace, comfort, encouragement, strength, endurance, growth, and the list goes on.
A while back I started a poetry study of the book of John. I think it’s time to steer myself back in that direction. I want to start posting what I’ve already studied and poeticized as I continue my poetic journey through the book of John. If you would like to follow along, this series will be found under the category ‘Passions’ I’d like to share other passions under this category as well. However, the primary passion of my life and heart must be my Savior, Jesus Christ. ❤

Prioritising- for me unless I am intentional I find that I get distracted. I have to constantly remind myself to not let my focus be drawn away and remind myself to get the things that I had planned done.

Yes, being intentional is so nessasary. But for me, even being intentional can end up a flop. The Spirit is willing…… but more prayer is needed. 😬🙏😬🙏

Prioritizing can be difficult for me too. Either I get tunnel vision and stay focused on something for too long, or I am distracted by other “shiny” things! I really love this line in your post – “Our primary Passion must be God.” Yes! I agree! And when we don’t feel it, we can pray for it!
