A Journey Through John

Let’s begin……

… a poetic Journey through the Book of John. We will learn a great deal about Jesus, whose message John taught as an Apostle of God, as well as, a little about John.

The Word Was God

Without Jesus no life exists

He was with God

And God, He is

There were no creatures great or small

Until the Light of the World spoke life into it all.

The Deity of Jesus Christ

Before the world began, there was the Word. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. All things were made through Him. Nothing was made without Him. In him there was life, and that life was the light of all people.

Where does the title for Jesus ‘the Word’ come from?

In the book of Revelation, the Apostle John’s prophetic vision shows Jesus returning riding on a white horse followed by Heaven’s armies also upon white horses …. His name is called The Word of God… and on his robe and upper leg is written The KING of KINGS and LORD OF LORDS.” (Rev 19:11-16).

Why is Jesus called the Word?

The plainest reason why the Son of God is called the Word, seems to be, that as our words explain our minds to others, so was the Son of God sent in order to reveal his Father’s mind to the world. What the evangelist says of Christ proves that He is God.

He asserts, His existence in the beginning; His coexistence with the Father. The Word was with God. All things were made by Him, and not as an instrument. Without Him was not any thing made that was made, from the highest angel to the meanest worm. This shows how well qualified He was for the work of our redemption and salvation.

The light of reason, as well as the life of sense, is derived from Him, and depends upon Him. This eternal Word, this true Light shines, but the darkness comprehends it not. Let us pray without ceasing, that our eyes may be opened to behold this Light, that we may walk in it; and thus be made wise unto salvation, by faith in Jesus Christ.

  1. God chose Jesus to be a messenger to us, to share the Word, God’s Word. Jesus has been with God since the beginning; He is The Word, His Father’s messenger. When we open our hearts to Jesus, we find Light; and it illuminates our path.

  2. A beautiful start to this study. We have so much to thank Jesus for. Not only our salvation, but for all of life that He spoke into existence. Without Him, we wouldn’t have the beauty that is around us. Thank you for this reflection. πŸ¦‹

  5. Blessings to you Tina for sharing this post. The journey of Jesus is much deeper than many Christians can fathom. From the beginning of time, Jesus witnessed everything. He is the Word which guides our own journey.
