Momentum: Why is God the Missing Peace/Piece?

First, credit where credit is due. This ‘missing peace’ concept comes from the beautiful J.J. Heller’s song ‘Missing Peace.’

I was listening to this song yesterday morning as I walked my steps. Next I moved on, continuing the momentum by walking a loop ’round the river trails nearby.

It sounds lovely, doesn’t it? It is, but there are days when life is a challenge, and as lovely as these things are, they aren’t the answer to all that ails. Nevertheless, I still encourage you to keep getting up, keep moving and continue to stop and smell the roses. It all adds up.

As I meditated on the words of J.J. Heller’s song yesterday morning, I also reflected on my own life. I reflected on how painful those days were when I was struggling deeply with depression and anxiety; how much of a struggle it was to keep pushing to do the things I needed to do. Some days I succeeded, other days I felt as if I had failed. I did learn to show myself more grace and patience. However, I couldn’t have learned this on my own.

If I were to get into all of the details of how God has provided, I would have to write a book. Regardless, His mercies ARE new every morning even if we fail to see them.

I have a confession. 😳 It’s not a doozy. I can relax. 😁

I do watch a lot of useless stuff on YouTube. In this world we have distractions. Amidst these distractions there are heaps of misinformation. That’s a lot to sift through. I would really like to shut it all out most days, but I’m also drawn to it as I search for answers to things like, oh…. ‘How do you stay motivated?’ Fortunately, sometimes God uses this useless stuff as well.

So, I was watching a video that brought up motivation in regards to health and fitness (okay, that’s not so useless)….

It was mentioned that motivation has more to do with momentum than will power. When you see results it encourages you to keep going.

This is a long story to get to the point 👉 “Why is God the missing Peace?”

Okay, this piece (and peace) has nothing to do with exercise, but if you want motivation (or momentum) in that area, God can help there too. I just happened to be pondering ‘missing peace’ while doing my steps. Bear with me, momentum connects.

Why is God the missing Peace? It’s a given that in this world we will have trouble. These words came from Jesus’ (God) Himself. Given that we will have trouble we will also need hope to sustain us. Hope means peace in our challenging circumstances. Peace helps us to push as we reflect on how God has provided through difficult times. We also gain trust. Trust once again significantly aids in our peace and sense of hope. Last, but not least, hope leads to momentum, knowing that our efforts aren’t for nothing. God can and will support and sustain us even if we can’t see how He is doing it at the time.

Don’t give up. Not now… You’ve come so far. We have a God who cares about you as well. He is a sustainer, and a healer.

P.S. I have 8 weeks of Practicum starting on July 10th. Please pray for my continued studies. If all goes as planned I should finish my studies on September 1st. I have applied for my ECEA license and will be waiting for that to go through. Driving is kind of up in the air. 🤣😂🤣😂😂 College is enough right now. I’ll figure out the driving lessons after college is done.

GOD is with us. ❤❤❤❤

….I’ve been carrying you on my back

  from the day you were born,

And I’ll keep on carrying you when you’re old.

I’ll be there, bearing you when you’re old and gray.

I’ve done it and will keep on doing it,

  carrying you on my back, saving you.

Isaiah 46:3-4 (The Message)

  1. Thank you for this. I needed it. It’s a beautiful circle. And a reminder to not give up. God is always there. But we have to remind ourselves of truth, as you did wonderfully in this post.
    As for walking – I walked 1/4 of a mile today. Lol. Not much. But I haven’t been walking at all lately, and I hope to get in a better groove. Then I read your post where you talked about walking. Thank you for the encouragement.
    You are in my prayers, my friend and wanna be neighbor and someday walking partner! 🤗🤍🙏

    1. Awe, thank you, Bridget. It really would be lovely to walk with you. 🤍🤗🙏 Thank you for sharing that you’ve been walking and trying to get in a better groove. I will think of you and pray for you on my walks. I hope you will do much more or it.

      I live in a basement suite so I really do need to get out into the fresh air and sunshine. It’s so important for the mental health. We do have physical bodies to contend with. 😁 Physical needs must be one of our priorities. I feel like I’m lecturing you. 😆 Sorry… But actually, I’m saying it to myself at the same time.

      My practicum starts tomorrow! 😬😳 8 weeks straight of planning and implementing activities for 3-5 year olds! I feel like I’m going into the deep end. Please pray for me. It’s a daunting task, but I’m also looking forward to the experience on one hand. It will stretch me. I need God with me through this. 😳 I really really do. I need that peace.

      Thank you for sticking with me, though I haven’t been able to be too active on my blog, read blogs or respond to comments. I still remember the day you commented on my original blog and we connected. You ate definitely someone I would love to have for a neighbor and take walks with.

      Blessings and prayers 🙏🤍💐

      1. Thank you, my friend! I have upped my walks to a mile. But I only went one day last week. Hopefully this week I will get more walks in. One bonus is sometimes I stroll outside with my dog too. But I don’t count it as exercise because he likes to leisurely snoop around. However, at least I get the sunshine when I do that. And don’t worry at all, I didn’t think you were lecturing me. I appreciate the reminder because I spend the majority of my time sitting and indoors. But I know I feel better when I get outdoors. ☀️

        Yes I am definitely praying for you! I know you will do a great job. And God is with you each and every moment. He will guide you as you lean on Him. I pray God gives you peace and wisdom each day. And strength when you are feeling weary. He’s got you, my friend! 🙏

        And don’t worry at all about not being able to post on your blog often. We all will go through different seasons when we need to focus on other things. Of course I am sticking with you. One amazing thing about WordPress is the friendships we have made here. And I feel like we are friends for life. Even if we can’t talk for awhile, we will remain in each other’s hearts. Now I am getting all sappy. Lol. 😂

        Blessings and prayers for you too, my friend ! 🤗🤍

  2. God is our peace, our hope, and our future. When we give Him our problems and concerns by reaching; out to Him in prayer, we can rest in His truth and find peace.
    Lovely photographs, and post, Tina!
    I will keep you in my prayers; prayers for you, your studies, and your practicum to go well.
    Blessings! ❤️🐰🐝💐🌺

    1. Thank you so much, Jeanne. I so appreciate that. It feels a bit like I’m going into the deep end, but I also have to remember that this is part of the learning process. You have to be a bit stretched and take those leaps of faith and trust.

      Blessings back at ya! ❤🌈🦋🌼💐

  3. To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

    A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

    A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

    A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

    A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

    A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

    A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

    A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

    1. The verse that came to my mind this morning was from 1 Samuel.

      “Then Samuel took a stone and set it between Mizpah and Shen, and he named it Ebenezer (stone of help), saying, “Thus far the Lord has helped us.” — 1 Samuel 7:12.

      Know that God is there to help also brings us peace. I hope you and your family are doing well, Alicia. My 8 week practicum starts tomorrow! 😳😬 I’m a bit nervous, but also looking forward to it and trusting God for His help. Peace, hope and trust indeed. 🙏
