Seeing the Rainbow

To say that my schedule is very busy, and that my brain is bogged down, is an understatement. Nevertheless, I’m trying to finally take a break in my busy schedule to do something I love– that is, to write to encourage, process, and point to where my help comes from.

This morning a YouTube video caught my attention and left me meditating on some thoughts. This one HERE about how to get up at 4:30 am. 😂🤣😂

Before you think I’m a crazy woman, I wasn’t planning on getting up at 4:30. Actually, the last couple of days I’ve set my alarm from 5 am to 6 am as I’ve been waking up between 2:30 and 3:30 wide awake. Then by the time I finally dose back off to sleep I’m barely getting enough sleep for it to be worth dosing off again. Thus, I’m waking up feeling as if I haven’t had enough sleep and quite run down. Hence, setting the clock backwards didn’t sound like a great plan—that is, until I watched this video.

I was really curious as to what this YouTube influencer’s motivation was for waking up so early. I won’t give you any spoiler alerts in case you’re curious as well. But as it turns out, her motivation WAS actually key to waking up so early. In fact, she even went as far as to say you need to have something to be excited about to get out of bed that early. As someone who drags herself out of bed far more often than not, I understand what she’s saying. If there’s no clear motivation, there’s no forward momentum.

Seeing the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow is the analogy I’m choosing here. What is it that you consider gold in your life? What is valuable and worth the effort? What is the goal and motivation, not only to wake up early for, if that’s what will help you achieve your goals, but also what will help you to push for any reward that takes hard work and long-term commitment?

Short-term goals are always easier to achieve. It’s the long extended periods of time that often make us feel overstretched and as if the long-haul is far too great to endure.

But, how Can I do This? 🤔

Thankfully, I have the ‘how’ mostly figured out; it’s by the grace of God that I will conquer my mountains and giants. The details, however, can be a bit sketchy. This makes having a clear understanding of the motivation behind our goals so important.

However, you might be like me. Maybe you can only see the pot of gold, but you really don’t know what treasures it truly holds. Hold on, don’t pack it in so soon. You don’t have to know the sum of all the good that still lies ahead. You simply need to know and believe that it’s bountiful and beautiful.

Here are some reminders to encourage some hope filled thoughts, strength, joy and peace:

Jesus is and Holds our Pot of Gold

The rulers of this world didn’t know anything about this wisdom. If they had known about it, they would not have nailed the glorious Lord to a cross. But it is just as the Scriptures say, “What God has planned for people who love him is more than eyes have seen or ears have heard. It has never even entered our minds!” –1 Corinthians 2:8-9

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” –Jeremiah 29:11

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. –Hebrews 12:1-3

P.S. If you’ve been feeling low on energy, as I have, this video HERE might provide some helpful tips as well.

  1. So good to see you post again sweet daughter. I have missed you. Ugh on waking up so early. When that happens to me, sometimes it is because Jesus wants me to pray about something.

    1. Hmmm. Well, either he wants me to prat a lot, or a lot more than I have been, or I’m just under a lot of stress from work and school. I was starting to sleep a bit better before September hit. Then everything got stressful again. But I guess stresses give us more to talk to God about. Thank you for sharing and visiting my blog, dad. ❤️ Love you. 😊

  2. I understand completely because my sleep patterns have been very similar. As a matter of fact, it’s 2:20 AM as I type this. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I believe my issues stem from worries on my mind. I haven’t looked at the videos yet, but I will. Thank you for this insight. I like the idea of having a “pot of gold” so to speak, which helps motivate us in our goals. You’re right, long term treks are definitely a challenge. I agree – I couldn’t get through one day without the grace of God. I’m so thankful Jesus sees us through each and every moment. 🙌 I’m praying for you on this journey, Tina! ♥️🙏

    1. Thank you so much for the prayers, Bridget. 💖 I’m sorry to hear that worries have been keeping you up. I think stress is my problem. But I was struggling with worries for a while. I started reading a daily devotional called “Worry Less Pray More” by Donna K. Maltese. It was very good and helped me to remember to give things to God and how much He cares and loves us. Now I’m reading her “Stress Less Pray More” devotional. I haven’t been reading it enough lately. I need to get back to adding that into my daily routine. Prayers are going up for you as well. 🙏💖

  3. When I had young children, I got up at 5 AM each morning and exercised for 30 minutes. My motivation was enjoying a time when the house was quiet and I could do something for myself. Aerobics energized me. Helping others is the thing that motivates me to get up and moving now.
    Peace and Blessings! 💖💐🌺

  4. Tina, I appreciate how you wove your own journey together with God’s inspiring Word. The other morning I woke up much earlier than normal, and the Lord afforded this opportunity to pursue an intensive time with Him, Scripture, and my writing notebook. Indeed, I was on a journey into a rainbow of witness and engagement. Blessings and God’s peace.
