Go Forward

“[Even the migratory birds are punctual to their seasons.] Yes, the stork [excelling in the great height of her flight] in the heavens knows her appointed times [of migration], and the turtledove, the swallow, and the crane observe the time of their return. But My people do not know the law of the Lord [which the lower animals instinctively recognize in so far as it applies to them].”

Jeremiah 8:7 (AMPC)

Do you know the signs of the seasons? What I mean is–do you know if it’s time to get a move on, or time to stay and rest.

Maybe you’re like me. You run yourself into the ground and find out the hard way that rest is important. Or perhaps you’re the complete opposite and you haven’t even put your feet on the ground yet. There’s a third possibility: fear or insecurity may be delaying your “migration.”

Thankfully, the Bible gives us clues and guidance to live wisely. If you’ve been working hard and need a rest, Jesus understands. He too needed to spend time away from the crowds Therefore, He calls us to come away with Him to be nourished and refreshed.

“The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to Him all they had done and taught. Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, He said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”

Mark 6:30-31

Ah, but linger too long along the shoreline with your feet in the sand, and resting becomes hunkering down for the long haul, or resting on one’s laurels.

Through sloth the roof sinks in, and through indolence the house leaks.

Ecclesiastes 10:18

The Lord our God said to us in Horeb, ‘You have stayed long enough at this mountain.

Deuteronomy 1:6

As we journey forward, our times are in God’s hands. Thankfully, He knows that we all have a pace we can personally handle: He’s taken this into account. So don’t worry! He thinks of everything! โค

Jacob replied, “My lord knows that the children are frail, and I must care for sheep and cattle that are nursing their young. If they are driven hard for even a day, all the animals will die. Please let my lord go ahead of his servant. I will continue on slowly, at a comfortable pace for the livestock and children, until I come to my lord at Seir.”

  1. Our times are indeed in Godโ€™s hands ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฝ.
You mentioning that he knows we have a pace and he understands reminded me of something funny I read yesterday that said โ€˜when God calls you to something donโ€™t worry he has already factored in your stupidityโ€™. I know that this is meant to be funny but it also has some truth to it. He knows our weaknesses, our fears and how much we can take.
I pray that your course will go really well. You will enjoy it. And for the Lord to give you the confidence and the skill to be behind the wheel ๐Ÿ›ž ๐Ÿš˜

  2. Hi Tina, Yes, we all must go forward, but I, like you, tend to rush forward and run myself into the ground. I am working on finding that happy medium; that God encourages and directs us to. A lifestyle where I take time to be refreshed and nourished, can relax, and find peace.
Glad to hear things worked out, and your class starts Monday! I will say prayers that your studies and driving lessons both go well. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿš˜๐Ÿ’–๐ŸŒบ

  3. Good words Tina!! The Lord is faithful to guide us along in His perfect timing and allows us to rest in Him when we grow weary. He gives us the strength to continue on again when the time is right!

Praying as you start your new course and for your driving lessons too!!
